I was once at a Rosh Hashanah meal in the Old City in Jerusalem. At the table, the family put out all kinds of funky foods to symbolize a good year. One of the foods that they put out was the brain of a cow! Ew! I certainly did not eat it, but it was awesome!

What is the weirdest food you ever had on Rosh Hashanah?

Honestly, I remember Rosh HaShanah services to be really really long and maybe boring...I never knew what was going on! I looked at this website though, and it looks like Synagogues are changing things up! I think I will even go this year just to see what it is all about!

It was over Rosh Hashana, when I was 13 years old, that my sister and I decided, very spur of the moment, to leave the non-Jewish secondary school that we attended and go to a Jewish one instead. Must have been the shofar blowing that inspired us! Best decision I ever made. The friends I made there are friends for life and I never looked back for a moment.
